Financial Appraisals

The primary objective of an investment appraisal is to assess the risks and viability of a project, programme or decision, as well as place a value on the benefits so that costs are justified. Our team has extensive experience in delivering investment appraisals, ranging from the assessment of one-off investment property purchases, to identifying the most cost effective way to deliver large scale local authority regeneration and housing development programmes.  

We are also able to provide review and challenge viability assessments from private developers, to ensure that the affordable element of developments are maximised.

 
Systems Thinking

Our Systems Thinking Reviews allow us to work with managers to study their organisation as a system and on the basis of the knowledge gained through the review, we can help to re-design services to improve performance and drive out costs.  The process also aims to inform and educate the organisation to allow the staff themselves to partake in the whole process and use the new learned skills to identify and carry out similar reviews themselves.
 
Financial Reviews

Our experienced team prides itself on helping Local Authorities to unlock ongoing revenue savings, by reviewing existing policies and accounting treatment and comparing it to best practice, learnt from working across a variety of Councils at all tiers.  These have included reviews of Fees and charges, MRP, Debt Management, the HRA and Capital Receipts.  We often find that a fresh pair of eyes can uncover some easy, yet lucrative, wins.
